All quiet on the homefront
I was shocked when I looked at the last date I posted - I've been so busy getting settled into the new job, and several of the "extra-curricular" activities I am now involved in - I seemingly have neglected the blog. So, I'm sorry to the 2 or 3 of you that actually click over here to see what's going on :)
Anyway, a few weeks ago, I called my big brother to see what was going on with him. In my monthly emails back home, I'd been talking about The Boy's promotion board, and my brother had some questions about the way that Army promotions worked. "MOS," "ninety-one whiskey," "E5, E6" and several other acronyms worked their way into a single sentence. My brother was laughing uncontrollably for a bit, amazed at his baby sister's new vernacular. Without even realizing it, "Army-speak" has become a part of daily conversations.
I find myself understanding things The Boy talks about regarding work - and when he uses acronyms such as "UA" or "APFT" I don't even blink an eye. Good grief, I even laughed at Dogtulosba's story about the different colored berets. I understood!!!
It's even entertaining to me, to hear how the people back home have changed in response to my becoming an Army wife. I loved hearing how my mother preached to the lady at Wal-Mart about how shipping to an APO was exactly the same as shipping state-side, with the only difference being the requirement of the customs form.
There's a quote I remember reading some time ago, about how when you know better you do better. I guess we're all just learning :)
