Elizabethtown

I laughed SO much over Ambrose's post regarding the 250 tickets that are being passed out to "important people" back home:

"So, if the Rubberboots Girl were still in E-town, I know, just know, that she would have a ticket to this special screening of Elizabethtown in Elizabethtown that will be attended by Cameron Crowe himself. I mean, with a guest list of 250 with their Plus Ones, there would have to be an invite for the City Tech Guru, or the daughter of the Most Important Man in E-town, the liquor control guy. And for her Plus One, if The Boy couldn't go, I know she would invite her best friend. (My lashes begin to flutter). And if KB couldn't go, I know she would then ask her best girl-friend. (I try to flash a coy, moi? smile) And when Melissa wouldn't be able to drive all the way down from Chicago, you better believe I would beg her to take me instead :-) Maybe even PAY."

So how much did I laugh when I got an email from an old friend back home? The answer? Quite a bit.

"On a serious note. I have a favor to ask, if you have the pull. Do you still have any pull with the city? The movie "Elizabethtown" is coming out soon, and there is going to be a special premiere here in e-town. There are limited tickets, and I have a few friends here who wanted a couple (we are doing a special cancellation envelope and selling those and also giving out the fan club addresses for Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst. (I had to join the respective fan clubs to get those) I will get you an envelope if you want one. The cancellation does not have anything, really, to do with the movie, since we are not going to buy any copyright materials, but they will be kinda cool. Anyway, We are doing that and a few people wanted to go to the premeire, so I thought I would see if you still had any pull left. You are the most important person I know to rub shoulders with in Elizabethtown. Isn't that funny? And you are in Germany!"

Apparently, E'town is going nuts over the movie. And for the record? I have ZERO pull with ANYBODY to get tickets! But it really makes me feel like a movie star myself, with all of these people thinking that I was one of those "important people" :)

update 5:50pm

From my best friend back home:

"That movie Elizabethtown is having its premier here this weekend, it has been wild. They are blocking off the movie palace parking lot to keep people out, because the stars of the movie is suppose to be here. They invited 250 guests, so we will see how it comes out. They said CMT all the TV stations, radio people etc are going to be there. So I am sure it will be a zoo. I am working the door, so I will get to see everyone, sorta exciting I guess."

The daughter of the liquor control guy...oh man, that is funny...I mean, I can remember that tidbit, but wow...I am disappointed that you can't make that pull...I would love to rub that into everyone's noses. Excited to see you again soon!
