the Price of Gas
is supposedly going down.
One of the things we are getting used to over here is the fact that our gas is rationed and measured in liters, but we still pay by the gallon. A few weeks ago, a news crew from AFN was doing a story about the rising price of gasoline. The people that worked inside of the shoppette here were absolutely livid, stating that "all they are doing is driving customers away."
The Boy and I got a great laugh about that one. Where else are we going to go? The economy?! I don't hardly think so.
It takes approximately 58 liters to fill up our tank... about $37
On the economy here, the last price I saw was $1.03 per liter (I am sure that has gone up since then). That would equal almost $60.
It's not like we can drive down the road to find the cheaper gas. It is what it is.
The last time we filled up, we were discussing the "good days" when you could fill up your tank, get a soda & candy bar, pay with a $20 and still get change.

There was a time in my early car ownership days, which really only was 10 years ago, that $10 would almost fill my tank!
I had an '84 Toyata Tercel...you could fill it up in Hawaii (land of the expensivo gas) for $15 I can remember my eyes bugging out when I tanked up my brother's VW Eurovan and it coming out to more than $30...those were the days...*sigh*
Sad part is that gas prices have dropped a little in the states but AAFES hasn't reflected the price drop yet.
Welcome to Germany by the way "the girl" (waves madly from K'town).
