Blah blah blog

A few months ago, I had a very defining moment in my life. I really felt like I was going to lose my mind - not because of one thing of another, but really, a combination of about 100 different things.

It's hard to realize sometimes that I'm not in control of the things that happen in my life. And I'm not meaning on a deeply spiritual level kind of control thing, either... I'm talking about the Army determing where we're going to live and how long we're going to be living there, and whether The Boy will be living in the same place I am, and etc. etc. etc. I'm sure these feelings are echoed by many other military spouses. I just reached the point where I couldn't handle it anymore. I'm not sure what happened - it just became too much for me to bear.

Eventually, I got beyond that point.

Even though the situation hasn't changed one bit (all of the things that are/were going on that caused me to feel that way are exactly the same), I think I'm better now.

So.

I've decided to take control.

There are so few things in my life that I have control over these days, but something that has completely spun out of control is my weight. When I met The Boy, I literally weighed 50 pounds less than what I do now. That was 3 years ago. (Clearly, I'm a stress eater - though that does not excuse my behavior.)

I know that by the end of the year, most New Year's resolutions are broken. But not this year, not for me.

This blog has served a lot of purposes over the past few years - and now, it will be a public display of my weight loss efforts. You'll notice my new "ticker" up at the top. My goal is that this time next year it will read "0" pounds to lose. :)

You are too cute.

I have a suggestion for an entree that's filling while low in calories: turkey cutlets. I used to buy the turkey schnitzel cuts there in the commissary, and they worked fine. One of my favorite recipes (I made it last night!) is from Cooking Light: http://food.cookinglight.com/cooking/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=698591. Way fast (15 min -- I use a can of petite diced tomatoes to save chopping time), surprisingly yummy, and quite low in calories while being filling enough. Definitely give it a try!

I hear ya! I gained more than 30 pounds while we were in Germany. Had been doing pretty well taking it off before we left, but have gained it all back. I have about the same amount to lose. Maybe we can motivate each other? Good luck!
